You want to know what we actually do around here? Not the tourist version — the real, local version?

After a lifetime in the Magic Valley, I’ve got opinions. Strong ones. Here are my top 7 things to do in Twin Falls this season — the places I take my own family, the spots I show off to out-of-town friends, and the experiences that remind me why I love calling this place home.

1. Shoshone Falls

I’ve been to Shoshone Falls probably a hundred times. Never gets old.

Known as the “Niagara of the West,” our falls are actually taller than Niagara at 212 feet. During spring and early summer when the water is really flowing? It’s absolutely thundering.

Local's Tip

Skip the crowds by going early morning or late afternoon — the lighting is better for photos anyway. And here’s a secret: bring a picnic. The grassy areas above the viewpoint are perfect for spreading out a blanket.

2. Canyon Rim Trail

This is one of my go-to recommendations for folks exploring the area. The Canyon Rim Trail runs along the Snake River Canyon and gives you incredible views of the canyon and Perrine Bridge.

It’s paved and accessible — perfect for:

  • Morning walks or jogs
  • Families with strollers
  • Evening bike rides when the sun is setting over the canyon

Pro tip: Sunset from the canyon rim is chef’s kiss. Trust me on this one.

3. Perrine Bridge BASE Jumping

Yes, it’s legal here. Year-round. And even if you’re not jumping yourself (I’m not!), watching is a whole experience.

Perrine Bridge and Twin Falls is one of the only places in the country where BASE jumping is legal year-round without a permit. Visit on almost any day and you’ll spot parachutes floating down to the canyon floor.

Fun Fact

I’ve had clients relocate here specifically because of the BASE jumping community. It’s a thing. A whole lifestyle. And it’s pretty cool to have that as part of your backyard.

4. Dierkes Lake

This is where locals go in the summer. My kids practically grew up here.

Like the animal + your house keys! Now you'll sound like a local.

Situated above Shoshone Falls, Dierkes Lake offers:

  • Swimming and sunbathing
  • Kayaking and paddleboarding
  • Fishing for those quiet mornings
  • Cliff jumping (for the brave ones in your group!)

There’s parking, restrooms, and picnic spots — everything you need for a full day with the family. It’s less “touristy” than Shoshone Falls and honestly, I kind of love that about it.

5. Downtown Twin Falls

Our downtown has come alive in recent years. Local shops, galleries, restaurants, entertainment — it’s become a real destination.

Don’t miss:

  • First Friday Art Walks — Monthly events featuring local artists, live music, and open galleries
  • Food Truck Rallies — Seasonal gatherings with some seriously good eats
  • Local Boutiques — Unique finds you won’t get at big box stores
  • Coffee shops — Perfect for remote work days or catching up with friends

My Favorites

I’m a sucker for the local coffee spots downtown. Grab a latte, walk Main Street, peek into the antique shops… it’s a vibe.

6. Rock Creek Park

Looking for something quieter? Rock Creek Park is it.

This is the spot for:

  • Peaceful walking paths
  • Fishing spots along the creek
  • Family exploration without the crowds
  • Just… breathing. You know?

It’s one of those hidden gems that locals love — and now you’re in on it.

7. Canyon Sunset Viewing

Sometimes the simplest things are the best.

Find a spot along the canyon rim — there are plenty of pulloffs — and just watch. As the sun drops, the canyon walls light up in oranges and pinks and reds. It’s free, it’s easy, and it’s unforgettable.

Bring a blanket. Bring snacks. Bring someone you love. Or just bring yourself and some quiet.

Why This Matters for Homebuyers

When I’m helping clients find their home, we don’t just talk about square footage and school districts (though those matter too!). We talk about lifestyle. What do you want to DO here?

Because Twin Falls isn’t just a place to live — it’s a lifestyle. And once you experience it? You’ll understand why so many people are putting down roots.

Thinking about making Twin Falls home? Let’s connect. I’d love to show you around and help you find the perfect place — near the trails, the canyon, downtown, or wherever fits your life.
